How Do You Define Success? | Progressions Trailer
Progressions: Success in the Music Industry is your home base for career growth. I hope it will inspire you as much as it educates you.
Check back every week for interviews featuring some of the most successful people in the industry and solo monologue episodes focusing on topics that will help you build the music career you've dreamed of.
You’ll find the interviews to be focused and topical than past episodes. My aim is to bring you the most valuable and insightful conversations possible and the result has been many of my personal favorites.
When I started the show three years ago I never knew the journey that it would take me on. I never thought it would change me as much as it has. I think it took two years just to learn how to be a host and then a year further to decide how I wanted the show to grow and change.
Thank you to all of you that have been listening from the beginning. You’ve all made this possible.

How do you define success? I've done over 100 episodes of progressions
Speaker:and there are three things that I've come away with that you need to understand
Speaker:about success in the music industry. One, it's not going to look like you think
Speaker:it will, but if you don't have a vision for what it is, you're never
Speaker:going to find it. Number two, it's about the process. Your career is going to
Speaker:have some high highs and some low lows, but if you love the
Speaker:journey and get fulfillment out of the work, then you're going to get there. Number
Speaker:three, and most important. Important, you have to define your own
Speaker:success. You can have idols and inspirations. In fact, you should.
Speaker:But you'll never walk the same path as those people. Your success must be your
Speaker:own. My name is Travis Farrence and I've been a professional recording engineer and mixer
Speaker:for almost 20 years, working with some of the biggest artists in the world. I've
Speaker:had all the ups and downs that you've had. I felt stuck as often as
Speaker:I felt unstoppable, and I still do. And that's what progressions is about. It's about
Speaker:all of us being on our own music journey, but going at it together,
Speaker:supporting each other, sharing stories, sharing tips, inspiring each other
Speaker:to find our version of success in this industry. Every Wednesday I'll be
Speaker:sharing thoughts and conversations about creativity, productivity and growth in music.
Speaker:I'll be sitting down with some of the most successful, talented and inspirational people in
Speaker:the music industry, as well as sometimes outside. I hope that progressions becomes
Speaker:your home base for career growth. Come here to get unstuck, come here to
Speaker:spark creativity, or come here just to learn a new technique. Pick the parts that
Speaker:resonate with you and use those to shape your journey. For those of you that
Speaker:have been on this ride with me from the beginning, thank you. I hope you
Speaker:enjoy this new era of the show. And if you're new here, then welcome
Speaker:to progressions. Success in the music industry.
